The Brief
My sister, Jess, came with a clear vision for her business and a name, logo and branding that already felt right — she just needed a website to showcase it and create new leads. Ember & Tide is an independent family travel advisory offering personalised, free holiday planning for families, fully protected under ABTA and ATOL. The challenge was translating something genuinely warm and personal into a website that also felt premium enough to sit alongside luxury travel brands.
The Approach
The brand identity — logo, colour palette, and visual direction — was designed by Jess herself, and it arrived with a distinct character: soft, warm, unhurried. The website needed to honour that while doing the practical work of building trust quickly.
The site was built on Squarespace, chosen for its visual polish and Jess's ability to manage it independently after handover.
The copy was written to mirror the way Jess actually speaks about her business — direct, reassuring, and free of the kind of corporate travel-industry language that makes personal services feel impersonal. The three-step process section in particular was designed to demystify what working with a travel advisor actually looks like, removing the hesitation a first-time client might feel.
A full legal suite was built alongside the site written specifically for the travel advisory context, covering ABTA and ATOL protection obligations alongside standard GDPR and data handling requirements.
The result
Ember & Tide launched with a website that holds its own against far larger travel companies — warm enough to feel personal, polished enough to justify a luxury price point. The site gives Jess a professional home for her business that reflects exactly who she is and what she offers, with a clear, low-friction path from first visit to first enquiry. A complete project delivered from brief to live site, including all legal compliance — ready to trade from day one.
